About KODI

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I promised myself that I wouldn't come in here and write a book. Just wanted to pass on some good info about something I just recently started using.

(1) Download KODI here and install:
https://kodi.tv/download/

Can install on PC, Android, MAC, tablets, etc just choose which installer you need.
iOS for iPads - it can be done but requires a bunch of extra steps

(2) Download and install the Kodi/XBMC repositories of your choice.
The BEST way to know about Kodi Repos is to look on youtube.

Best two links are for the Genesis and Spartan repos, but there's so many out there as well - warning don't let 'JoeNobody's yelling throw you off, he means well!:

Good tutorial video on how to install add-ons if the other videos are too quick for you:

Adding a repository to Kodi - Steps in a nutshell:
(a)Add Repos
System >> File Manager >> Add Source

(b)Add Add Ons
System >> Settings >> Add Ons >> Install from zip

Huge Repos - BEST of the BEST:
.Spartan

http://spartanpixel.net/repo/

choose "wizard build" from zipfile then choose the BEAST build. NOTE - this is the biggest repo I've ever seen so it may take 10-20 mins to finish adding and setting this one up. But it's worth it.
.Genisys
http://fusion.tvaddons.ag
(This one is nice because it's 100% streaming so nothing ever downloaded - good for smaller machines limited with permanent storage)
install from zipfile 'Fusion'
Then goto xbmc repos then find 'repository.lambda' and select that
Other Recommended Repos - I have not tried them all yet so some may be down:

Thanks for posting this Turbo. I tried this today after you told me and although I was skeptical at first, it's AMAZING. The spartan "beast" build is a beast! Essentially, it's every free movie, tv show, and whatever internet stuff free to stream.

Thanks Gryph and all, no problem. Anytime I got something to share...will share it.

By the way, I totally forgot mentioning how to get it on your TV. The most popular way seems to be with the Amazon Fire Stick:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZVJAF9G/?tag=googhydr-20&hvadid=83774180472&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10806123140810587680&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_50eidzvypj_e

Then you would need to follow this video to install Kodi onto the Fire Stick:

Oops -

Video link for installing Kodi onto Fire Stick.

Now Amazon also sells many Kodi solutions in the form of a Rasberry PI installed into a case of some sort, then they claim to have Kodi preloaded with all the add-ons. True - these solutions might offer all that but you might end up getting something that has a very old version of Kodi and/or half the add-ons preloaded may be gone. This is why I suggest the Fire Stick solution and loading the latest Kodi version yourself.
